 Named after Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras, Tegu is a vertically-integrated toy company with its manufacturing facility in Honduras and commercial office in Darien, Connecticut. Tegu was founded by brothers Chris and Will Haughey, who set out to create a business that would generate employment in Honduras while providing attractive return opportunities for its shareholders. Following its market debut in late 2009, Tegu has sold approximately 150,000 units of its patent-pending magnetic wooden Blocks (“Tegu Blocks”) and has trained and employs over 90 Hondurans. In addition to online distribution through Tegu.com and Amazon, Tegu Blocks can now be found in retail shops throughout the USA and Canada; the company’s growing retail distribution network currently includes over 1,000 outlets in the toy, gift, design, and museum channels. Tegu Blocks sell in both iconic retail locations like the Museum of Modern Art and premium mass retailers like Pottery Barn Kids. In 2013, Tegu is expanding its distribution network in Europe and Asia.
